Overcome Effects of Stress
By:Emma Wanjiku

Stress has earned a name as the modern day silent killer. It is definitely the cause of so many health problems. The long term and short term effects of stress can cause a lot of devastation and every person needs to know what the effects are. In many instances, stress has played a huge role in helping people go to the next level of their lives. It causes people to outdo themselves and even excel in their work. However, when it is too intense in the body, it is vital for you to know how to go about it. A little stress will never leave us; your job is to ensure that full blown stress does not grip you because it is not pretty.

Since prevention is better than cure, you should focus on averting a potential crisis in your life. Stress is caused by stressors that you might not have control over. However, what you do have control over is your reaction to stress. To prevent harmful long term and short term effects of stress, you need to know who you are.

Many who enter the road of depression will not even realize it. This is one of the effects of severe stress. Depression is hard to cure and can take away your precious time on this earth. There is no point in defining stress over and over again if you do not know how to get rid of it. One piece of advice that will bear fruit in your life is optimism. You need to be positive no matter what.

The long term and short term effects of stress will lead to an early grave. Many experts have seen many develop phobias that were previously not there. Phobias come in all shapes and sizes and they are detrimental effects of stress. The long term and short term effects of stress need to be the point of focus when you are deciding on staying stress-free. Many in society have committed heinous crimes just because stress got the better of them. Many have killed under stress and this is definitely an ugly scenario. Other effects that can be for the short term or long term include mental illness and a host of other major health problems.

Many will lose their hold on life and enter a secluded world of their own making. Mental institutions are filled with such people who were not able to overcome stressors and deal with their problems. The short term and long term effects of stress are real and they do not discriminate. If you are looking to have a new start, there are pointers that can guide you in the right direction.

First, apart from being an optimist as mentioned above, you need to face reality when dealing with problems. Do not deny existence of problems but rather learn to accept things you cannot change. You can also employ a stress management strategy that will help you deal with different issues as they come. According to statistics, those people who believe in a higher power or God will deal with stress better than those who do not. There are so many other things you can do but the bottom line is to face challenges head on and overcome.
