By:Amanda G. Campbell

Looking for something fun to do in Denver? There are so many Denver tourist attractions, that it may be hard to decide! Fortunately there is a lot of variety, so you should be able to find something for the whole family to enjoy together. There is something for everyone to enjoy!

1. Visit the Denver Zoo. Lions, tigers, and bears, and much more...oh my! The Denver Zoo has over 4,000 animals and 700 species, covering 80 acres. Besides outdoor animal exhibits, you can see many varieties of birds in the Bird World building, or visit Tropical Discovery to see fish, snakes, bugs, frogs, and different kinds of lizards. During the summer there are shows such as the sea lion feeding and elephant tricks.

2. Tour the Capitol Building. The Colorado State Capitol is a beautiful building made of granite and a rare marble taken from local quarries. For a fun souvenir, you can take a photo on the steps of the capitol, 3 of which are engraved "One Mile Above Sea Level". You can also tour the capitol dome, for a bird's eye view of the city. All the tours are free, but reservations are required 2 weeks in advance if you want to take a dome tour. Regular tours do not require reservations.

3. Walk Around the Botanic Gardens. The Denver Botanic Gardens has over 35 individual outdoor gardens, such as Japanese Garden, Shady Lane, Victorian Secret, and many more. Plus, you can visit the large, steamy greenhouse to see a huge variety of unusual tropical plants.

4. Visit the Denver Art Museum. The Denver Art Museum (sometimes referred to as DAM), recently got a fresh, new look with the addition of the Frederick C. Hamilton building. The addition is fitting for an art museum, since it could be considered art itself! This unique building has quickly become a popular Denver landmark. The interior is just as interesting, and there are many different styles of art to view.

5. See a Show at the DCPA. The Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) is the nation's second largest performing arts complex. There are ten theaters that seat over 10,000 people. There are always interesting plays, concerts, or musicals going on.

6. Visit the Downtown Aquarium and see fish, fish, and more fish! The aquarium offers over a million gallons of fish tanks and sea animals, plus exhibits about the sea, desert areas, rain forests, beaches and more. After you're done with your tour, you can eat in the aquarium's restaurant, which is outfitted with a 150,000 gallon fish tank.

7. Take a Ride at Elitch Gardens, a popular amusement park in the heart of the city.

8. Splash at Water World, a giant water park with tons of slides, pools, and wet rides.

9. Take a Tour of the Denver Mint. The Denver Mint is the world's largest coin producer, producing approximately 8 billion coins per year! Tours are free, but you must make reservations. The Mint has a large list of prohibited items, so be sure to check out their website before you go.

10. Visit the Colorado History Museum, to learn a little about Colorado's rich and exciting history.

Enjoy these Denver tourist attractions! And remember, this is just the tip of the iceberg; there are many other Denver tourist attractions to be discovered and enjoyed!
