Experience Chicago, Illinois
By:Alice Lane

There is a world to discover and experience in Chicago, so that it is hard to know exactly where you should begin. Perhaps the best place is with a dramatic overview of Chicagoland, one thousand feet in the air at the John Hancock Observatory, or the Chicago occupational health services Skydeck at Sears Tower. Then, at Navy Pier you can take a 3-dimensional motion simulated journey through time at Time Escape, where you can travel through the history of Chicago from the past, present, and the future. Navy Pier is also the site of Amazing Chicago's Funhouse Maze, which brings the sounds and sights of Chicago to life with its twisted tunnels underground, its mirror mazes and its dazzling skyscrapers. Also not to be missed is the FireZone, a one of a kind fire-safety interactive environment where kids of all ages can experience a hands on look at the firefighters' world. The FireZone is a firehouse with real firefighters and fire engines, together with educational displays and programs designed to provide a fun learning experience.

There are a large number of boat tours which leave from Navy Pier and other Illinois healthcare locations in the city. Perhaps you are in the mood for a romantic lake cruise. Step aboard the fabulous Odyssey for a two or three hour getaway to the elegance and complete entertainment experience which only a truly luxurious cruise ship can provide. Enjoy gourmet appetizers, creative entrees and desserts which are prepared fresh daily onboard, while sipping award winning wines and dancing to live music, while spectacular skyline views of the city drift past your table. Summer months feature fireworks dinner cruises on Saturdays and Wednesdays.

Besides boat tours, there are city bus tours available which point out the significant Chicago landmarks, and provide a wealth of information about Chicago and its fascinating history. There are even chauffeured progressive gourmet dining tours available for gastronomes and orthopedic doctors Chicago south suburbs; as well as special family tours for children of all ages. Two of the country's finest zoos are located in Chicagoland: on the north side of the city is the Lincoln Park Zoo, a free zoo open 365 days a year. Although it is one of the country's oldest zoos, it is nonetheless one of the most modern. The Brookfield Zoo, located just west of downtown Chicago, occupies over two hundred acres and is beautifully landscaped; and it features over two thousand animals. Other great family attractions include the Field Museum and Adler Planetarium, both located on the Museum Campus next to Soldier Field. Shedd Aquarium - the largest indoor aquarium in the world, with more than eight thousand aquatic animals of over seven hundred species - is also located on the Museum Campus (take a water taxi from Navy Pier to Museum Campus).
