Resume and Interview Tips

Basic Resume Help For All Categories of Employment
By:Roger Clark

When searching for a new job, there is nothing more essential than a good-quality resume. This is because employers first review your resume. A cover letter combined with the resume can be the way to the next level: the job interview. It is really easy to write a good resume: there are a few things to be kept in mind, but the overall format is not very complicated. Despite this, many people need writing resume help.

If you look thorough your old resumes, you will find that there are a few common problems with them: in most cases, the resume is far too lengthy.

Writing resume help tells you that a resume doesn't even have to contain all your past jobs, experiences and studies: you only have to pick the relevant ones, from the perspective of the potential employer. You should not write about past events: accentuating recent experiences and achieved results is much more important.

Resumes often don't focus enough on what you can do for the employer "today": they tend to be too theoretical, without putting emphasis on what direct benefits the employer will receive if he hires you. A good resume closely resembles a commercial: its purpose is to show what value the buyer gets if he buys a certain product.

Writing resume help also points out that applicants usually fail to make any clear statements about what they are looking for job-wise or career-wise. This is important because hiring officers really want to know what the potential candidate thinks about their future. Many times a person seems perfect for a particular job opening, but the offer doesn't match their view about the future. So if a candidate speaks clearly about his plans, both the candidate and the employer can avoid wasting time.

The Internet is full of sites and "experts" saying that they are the best at resume writing. To further complicate matters, if you read enough about the philosophy of resume writing, you will find that there are a number of different viewpoints as to how a resume should be written and presented. So it is very important to be careful when choosing an expert or a specific approach to resume writing.
