Resume and Interview Tips

Preparation For the Interview is As Important As the Interview Itself
By:Roger Clark

When you receive the phone call or email announcing that you have been selected for an interview, you will naturally be very excited. You may even plan the way you will do your new job and think about the way you are going to decorate your new office. Yet, before getting there, you still have an interview to pass. To make sure that you get offered the job, you will have to thoroughly prepare for the job interview.

The first thing you should do is gather all the information about yourself on a sheet of paper. Think of as many of your previous jobs as possible and of the education you have received in the past. Unlike the resume, where you should limit the amount of information, at the interview you may be asked to give as many details about your previous experience and education as possible. This is why you will have to be prepared to answer the questions rapidly and clearly without any trace of hesitation.

Once you have all these facts on a sheet of paper, take a look at them and think about the way in which they have helped you acquire the skills you will need if you are offered the job. All your previous experience has affected you in one way or another, so make sure you extract all the qualifications that are relevant to the job. You should state all your abilities clearly and explain how they will help you with the job you are aiming at. This is the time when you should convince the employer that you are the right person for the job.

Also, make sure you know everything about the company in which you want to work. You may be asked what you know about the company and about the job you are applying for. So having as much information as possible will be a big plus for you. In addition to that, you can also formulate your objectives in relation to the company and the job you want. With little or no information, it will be difficult to make a presentation, which will impress the interviewer. This is why you will have to collect as much information about the business as possible.

Last, but not least, make sure that you wear the right clothes. First impressions are very important at a job interview and you do not want to start off on the wrong foot because of the way you are dressed.

The preparation for a job interview should last at least two days, as you will need time to gather, organize and memorize all the information. Once you have done this, you should be able to answer any questions you are asked with confidence.
