Resume and Interview Tips

Mistakes Which Can Ruin Your Chances of Passing a Job Interview
By:Roger Clark

You have probably sent a lot of resumes before actually being asked to attend a job interview. Taking into consideration that this is the final step towards the job you have desperately wanted in the last period, you should do everything right and avoid some commonsensical mistakes which can ruin any chance of getting the job.

Punctuality is one of the features employers most care about. If you cannot be in time for such an important meeting, then you will probably be late for work too. Also, most of the employers interpret your being late as a sign that you are an unreliable person, who will never be able to meet the deadlines. Thus, you should do your best to get in time for the job interview. If you do not know the area in which the company is located, leave home earlier and try to locate the company's building. Also, you may try to spot the building a day or two before the interview. This way, you will know exactly how much it will take you to get from one location to another.

The way in which you speak will also offer precious information about you. So, even if you are nervous, try to speak clearly and avoid unexplained pauses. This may show the employer that you are confident in yourself and are very good at working under pressure. These are features which will bring you closer to the job. Yet, a sloppy speaking, packed with filling words which have no meaning in the context will make you a great disadvantage.

Another drawback will be offering excuses for your past actions. If you have made mistakes in your past career, admitting that they were not good steps to take it is enough. Offering excuses bad excuses and trying to minimize your fault will only make you look worse in the eyes of your interviewers.

Last on the list of mistakes which can make you lose the job is showing very little interest in the job. This may not be a conscious feeling, but once you have been sending lots of resumes and went to many interviews which did not go very well, you tend to disregard the importance of the job. You just have to get a job, regardless of what you will have to do later on. This kind on unenthusiastic attitude will not get you any job, whatsoever. This is why, you will have to put a smile on your face, get some information about the company and let your interviewer know that this is the job you have always wanted.

A job interview is a time when you want to show all your best skills and not make a bad impression. Avoid these mistakes and you will surely be on the right way towards the job you have always wanted.
