How to Turn That Job Layoff Into a Positive Part of Your Resume
By:Brian G Chadra

Trying to explain a long period of unemployment can be unsettling. There are a variety of reasons for layoffs: company downsizing, going out of business, lack of customers or relocating to another locale. While these are just a few of the reasons you may be out of a job, it is nonetheless difficult to explain why you are currently not employed.

Let's look at some techniques that you can use to persuade potential employers that you can be a valuable asset to their firm. The first thing to consider is possible re-training in another field. If this was started during the layoff, it makes a perfect reason for not seeking another job right away. Since you are trying to acquire new skills and education, full time employment might not be a great idea until you get a handle on the new schedule.

Another good line of reasoning to use is your loyalty to your previous employer. You may have stayed until the very end even when you knew the company was folding or even past that to tie up some loose ends that required attention. The point is, demonstrating this kind of commitment to any employer is very rarely seen today.

By establishing your willingness to go the extra mile for a firm with which you are about to cut ties with, shows a certain sense of pride in your work. How many of today's workers would bail on a sinking ship the minute word lets out? Be sure to put this on your resume, it will definitely help your cause and may promote empathy with future employers. Good luck!

OK, you are still worried that your resume isn't good enough. Or it's possible that with your hectic schedule you don't have the time to devote to composing that amazing resume. How about a program that will do the job for you in less than 30 minutes? For more information, please visit the link below.
