Resume and Interview Tips

The Three Best Resume Tips to Get You Noticed by Employers
By:Brian G Chadra

I know resume writing isn't the most glamorous thing in the world, but maybe if you looked at it from another angle, you might gain a different perspective. Resumes, in case you didn't already know are designed with one specific purpose in mind: to get you that personal interview! If your phone isn't ringing, either you are not qualified for the job you have targeted or your resume isn't catching its fair share of attention. Let's see how to remedy this with some easy tips that you can put into practice.

1). Consider making a profile summary instead of a job objective section. The former uses your experience, skills and strengths to compile a dynamic paragraph intended to immediately grab the reader and make him want to read more. The balance of the document can then work off of this, using action verbs in the work experience section to more fully describe the type of impact you have made in your career. Make this document a sales letter, not a garage sale ad.

2). Make sure that your paper is properly formatted using Times New Roman or Arial font types with a type face of 12. This is easy to read and the default industry standard.

3). Be sure that all of your contact information is current and correct. If a company can't contact you the first time, they probably won't try again. Give them some options and let them choose a favorite method.

Put these into place for your next submission. Good luck!

Until next time,

Brian
