Resume and Interview Tips

The Top Three Resume Blunders Made by Job Seekers
By:Brian G Chadra

Although there are a plethora of blunders made by resume writers, three stick out as the most common according to most human resource professionals who are saddles with the unenviable task of sorting through the mounds of paperwork submitted for an opening to find those few worthy of an interview. The following gaffes are the most noticed of all problems documented.

1). Spelling and Grammar. This problem seems to creep up in generation after generation. It's as if one can't help himself from making this type of error. The problem is almost laughable since it can be so easily avoided. Be sure to use the built in spell check on the word processing program used to create the document. Also, have two trusted friends or associates critique your paper for grammatical errors. Now fix these mistakes before submission.

2). Formatting. Use a one inch border all the way around the paper. This can be easily set up through either page set up or print preview. It give your resume a nice clean appearance, so use it wisely.

3). Wrong contact information. Make sure that your address, phone numbers and emails are up to date and correct. Also use a professional email address not for example toyboy@dotmail.com. Give employers multiple way to reach you but ensure that you can be found at all of these. A potential company won't try again.

Examine your resume for these mistakes and you are now at least in the top 50% of job seekers. You are on your way. Good luck!

Until next time,

Brian
