Resume and Interview Tips

The Perfect Resume - What Do Employers Want?
By:Brad Grayson

The one who offers the job is the best person to give you advice for searching jobs. Unfortunately, HR managers analysis you'll find are most of the time rare and years old.

Here are some general rules for sending your CV, format and dimensions.

Most employers want to receive resumes through email

This information is useful especially for candidates that send resumes to companies with no relation to a job offer.

Still, if you want to apply to a certain job, the best way to send your CV is specified most of the times in job description or ad, so follow that instructions.

Employers prefer resumes completed in chronological order

This resumes present professional experience from the most recent job to the first (it should be filled in inverse chronological order) with start and end dates for each.

You can split experience into two parts:
Relevant experience - you will list here only experience and achievements that are related to the job you are applying.
Job history - will include employment dates, job titles, names of the employers and addresses.

Employers prefer one page resumes

Almost 50% of the employers think that a CV can have more than one page only if professional experience is complex. So a two page CV could not diminish the chances to be called to an interview, if professional experience is relevant to the job.

Employers feel that the length of the CV should reflect candidate experience. Finding a job could be a job in itself and you need to keep your eyes open on new openings in your field of expertise.
