Resume and Interview Tips

Top 7 Interview Tips
By:John K. Brady

You have created an impressive resume, submitted an interesting cover letter, and have received the much-awaited call for the Job Interview. So what are the most important interview tricks that you should master before you appear for the interview:

1) Confirm your interview schedule
Always call your perspective employer a day before and confirm the time for appointment. This act looks professional and confirms your commitment. But, you should avoid getting nasty by asking unnecessary questions from your interviewer.

2) Start early, reach safely
Remember, you may face unwanted delays due to loss of direction or route, traffic jams, or accidents. Therefore, start early and wait for your turn at the reception. Reaching late and making excuses about traffic situations doesnt make a good impression on your perspective employer.

3) Act gracefully, remain polite
Maintain a warm smile on your face. Greet everyone you meet including the receptionist. You must show that you are enthusiastic about this meeting and the place. One of my friends lost a very good opportunity as he misbehaved with the CEO he met in the elevator. So, it is important never to maintain your calm and remain polite.

4) Smile, smile, and smile
No one wants to meet a sullen-looking person. So, maintain your smile. When you meet your interviewer, give him a firm handshake, but avoid a tight grip. Your body language plays a very important role. So, avoid slouching, yawning, and folding your arms. The interviewer might misinterpret it as an unpleasant signal that can even turn him away.

5) Remain active and confident during the interview
Do participate in the discussion, and take notes, if required. Make an eye contact with the interviewer /s while talking. Respond to the interviewer with appropriate replies, nods, and smile. Answer each question with confidence, but think before you speak. Take a pause or use small phrases to steal more time to answer a question.

Just follow these tricks to prepare for your next interview and get your dream job.
