I have doubted the authenticity of the information provided by Yufa et al on setting up a photo business; buying wood with live knots and the family eating road kill, but I believe that the pictures of the child are genuine. It would seem rather callous of someone to involve a small child in a fabricated story.
Ha ha ha! This live knots and dead knots post seems to be your favourite example of a trouble-causing post CL. Well, let's have a look at the situation. A bloke says he is coming to China to do a wood deal and he asks for help to say live knots. If you are a resident forum Mandarin expert you can either give the bloke his translation, being a piece of cake for an expert to do, or you can take the approach 'I don't need to prove myself, why should I ?' I am afraid that claiming abilities on an Internet forum under a false handle (or even a genuine name) doesn't allow for the latter luxury of pride, because we can all say what we like with absolutely no evidence at all. If we say we know about this or that we should prove it to the best of our abilities ,save if that requires us to reveal our whereabouts or true identity. I have had my true identity revealed for me by another poster whom I trusted, so not much I can do about that one. I really can't see why there was a problem with Mr Knot. Much easier to give the bloke the benefit of the doubt and quieten the sod for all time by providing that Chinese.
