AVOID WECI International English School (the school will soon change it's name to VFuture, VF for short) in Changchun, Shenyang, Dalian, and Mei-he-kou. Please avoid this school at all costs, I and many of the people I know have had terrible experiences here. The school lies and manipulates people into accepting positions, then attempts to trap them in a contract that they themselves do not even follow. The contract only serves the school, never the employee. WECI (VF) lies about working hours before you arrive. We were forced to work more than twice as many hours as we were told.

They steal money from staff (both foreign and Chinese) constantly. They force teachers to compete against each other for classes. They discriminate based on ethnicity, age, and personal appearance. They hire teachers from abroad, promising them a full time contract, salary, and airfare reimbursement with full knowledge that they will likely fire the person within a few months (leaving them unemployed and without airfare reimbursement in a small city where opportunities for foreigners are scarce). They play favoritism. They require teachers to attend 2-3 hour trainings and meetings regularly that are not paid but you are fined for not attending.

Many of the campuses are far away so you will likely end up commuting 2 or more hours each day.

I know of several employees who were cheated out of their airfare allowance and vacation pay at the end of the contract. The last straw for me was when they refused to pay an employee for more than a months salary because she would not apologize to a manager for standing up for herself when the school did not pay her on time. She was fired and 6 weeks of her salary was withheld by the school. The manager who hired her and signed the contract of employment with her refused to speak with her during the several weeks she spent fighting for her pay. She spoke with lawyers, foreign affairs experts, and many other people but no one was able to help her obtain her pay.

There are many other problems unlisted, ultimately the main issue is that the school grossly mismanages it's employees and treats them, as well as the customers (parents and children) badly. The parents don't have any idea the huge amount of lies the school feeds them. I have since fled Weci without finishing my contract and couldn't be happier. In the past 4 months, 12 teachers have left. I know 9 more who plan to leave in the next 2 months, most of whom will not complete their contracts.

Please think carefully before choosing this school. If you do find yourself in Changchun, I've heard good things about Perfect English (P.E.) and English First (EF). Good luck out there!
