Judi Watson - 2018-04-23

My name is Judi Watson; I have been the BC ESL Consultant for Sino Canada high School since September 2016... I want to identify myself from the outset and invite the disgruntled folks who are writing on this site to identify themselves as well... we want SCHS to be the best school possible and want to address any legitimate areas of concern directly... my husband is George Watson; he is the OSR / BC Superintendent and has been associated with Sino Canada since June 2016... both of us have had extensive experience in Canada and in China (since 2005).

As administrators working with Sino Canada International school, George and I strongly feel that the operators of this forum should make a sincere effort to investigate the extremely negative claims of some folks who post here. Sino Canada is a wonderful school that is regularly inspected by the British Columbia Ministry of Education. During the past two years, the ESL department has been totally revamped by an experienced BC certified teacher, administrator and consultant. A new highly respected Chinese ESL Director was hired in February 2017... since her arrival, her administration has worked closely with the BC ESL consultant in producing curriculum, purchasing appropriate resources, providing teacher training and improving ESL teacher contracts (Sino Canada ESL contracts are among the best offshore ESL contracts in China). She also works closely with the BC Principal who came to SCHS in September 2016... Graham Setters is a young, highly regarded, experienced administrator who has a positive reputation among the offshore school community and also with the BC MoE as evidenced by the recognition attributed to him in the most recent inspection report.

My husband and I visit the campus twice a year to work with both teachers and administrators. We are constantly in communication with the school throughout the year via WeChat, Skype and email...we are constantly available for staff to talk with us, and they do, often in praise and appreciation of the changes made in the last two years. We have a long history of being good listeners and wanting to hear about school issues relating to staff... Sino Canada staff would tell you that we have always answered directly and honestly and have done our best to make positive changes when we have been in a position to do so.

We invite our staff to share any concerns directly with us...

Yes, we have made some necessary personnel changes... yes, the school is better off because of those personnel changes... yes, those changes were long overdue... and yes, some folks who no longer work at SCHS are quite vindictive (hence validating why they no longer work there)...

It is a shame that the venom maliciously spewed on this site by “anonymous” individuals might cause potential teachers who are looking for work and adventure in China to be turned away by such vitriol. I invite interested ESL Teachers and interested BC Certified Teachers to contact me (watson.judi@sinocanada.ca), my husband (watson.george@sinocanada.ca) or the BC Principal (setters.graham@ sinocanada.ca) directly.

Sincerely

Judi Watson... ESL Consultant, SCHS
George Watson... OSR / BC Superintendent, SCHS
