It was his invention factory, a fourteen building complex covering several acres. Here he and his staff put their dreams into action. Inventions were conceived, prototypes developed, products manufactured and shipped to customers world-wide. It was a paradise for dreamers and became a model for modern manufacturing and research.
On a cold December day in 1914, Thomas' factory caught fire. He stood outside and said to his kids, "Go get your mother, she will never see another fire like this one."
Most of us would be crushed as our dreams went up in smoke. Thomas responded to this tragedy by saying, "I am sixty-seven, but not to old to make a fresh start. I've been through a lot of things like this." He rebuilt that lab that covered a three football field area and worked for another seventeen years. What a man! He lived his dreams and impacted the entire world with his positive lifestyle.
If you look the whole world over and examine every profession, the real dreamers who have lasting success, will almost always have a positive outlook on life. You too can overcome tragedy, win every battle and overcome all obstacles to your dreams.
Everytime I flip on a light switch, this dreamer, renowned inventor, most positive person and my hero, reminds me that anything is possible. Thanks, Thomas Edison!
