Things You Can Do With Your Old Laptop
By:Julie Armstrong

Many people today have an old laptop sitting around the house. Most people upgrade so often that their old machines still work fairly well but a new one was purchased for more speed or an upgrade of the operating system. You might be thinking about things to do with your old laptop. Below we will discuss a few uses that you can do with your old laptop computer.

Turn it into a media computer. Add your audio and video to it. Try to connect it to your sound system to play music during the day. Connect your television or a large LCD monitor on it and watch your videos on it. Most laptops have a DVD player so it can be used for this purpose as well.

Use your old laptop for your children’s computer. This will free up your primary machine. It will help solve some conflicts when many people want to use the same computer at the same time.

You can turn your laptop into a home server. You might have data that you want to remotely access on your machine or running programs while away. You might not want to try to hose a website on it as your ISP may have some issues with this in your terms of service.

Use it as a download machine. You might have things you are downloading during the day and this computer can be the one that is on all the time. This lets your primary machine rest a bit not having to be on all day.

Connect a monitor, keyboard, and mouse to your old laptop and use it like a desktop. You may have had some keyboard or screen issues in the past. This solves all of these and lets you use the hardware again.

Examine the cost of upgrades and consider using your machine again. It might be cheaper than buying a brand new laptop. A little bit of RAM and a new hard drive are very cheap and might completely restore the computer again.
