Want to Stop Bullying?
By:Nabihah Zaid

First question: You think you're a bully?

A bully is someone who is habitually cruel and intimidating, especially to smaller or weaker people. They can be rather scary and a pain to a lot of people. So, you think you're a bully?

And you want to stop bullying?

Some bullies find it hard to stop bullying because of different factors, which I'm going to go discuss throughout this article. In addition, some tips which I think you can use to stop bullying.

Peer pressure. When you're in a group of bullies, it will be hard for you to get yourself out of the group and choose your own way of life. Why not instead of telling them you're quitting the group, tell them you want to focus on your studies and you want to stop going after people. That way, you're showing that it's for your own good and if they join you, they'll benefit as well. If they call you a geek or anything of that sort, just smile and say "Why thank you, I'm proud to be a geek because if you haven't noticed, geeks are the one that succeeds in life". This way, you're telling them you don't care about name calling and that you are serious about changing yourself for a better and brighter future.

Fear of getting less popular. Some people think bullying makes you popular. Truthfully speaking, they might be right but, bullies would be popular for all the bad reasons. They'll only be known by how bad they are and how they should be avoided. If you once were a bully and you change - you help your classmates and continue to just helping people instead of hurting them, you'll find that they'll be more open to hang out with you and treat you like a proper friend instead of always talking behind your back about how bad you are. Now, won't that make you feel good?

Loss of 'manhood'. Many boys think bullying would make you look tough and is a good way of getting girls. Fact is, they're wrong! Girls don't care if you can punch someone or not, even we can do that. Really, we feel sorry for the victims and would say that you're a terrible person. If you want to be tough, show that you can control your anger and show that you're not afraid of being who you are. Plus, this helps you prove that you're not some guy off the street seeking for attention.

It's never too late to change. As long as you're still alive, you can change yourself for the better and make up to the people that you've hurt before. They may not accept you at first, but they will eventually - once you show them you've truly changed and really am sorry for what you've done, they'll accept you with an open hand. Just be patient and don't give up, and you'll see that all will pay off.
