Folks, I'm an older gentleman with no axe to grind with anyone. I can assure you Xiangnan University does not honor its contracts. It didn't with me.

Mr. Hogg, If Xiangnan and your friend "Bob" coerced you to write your reply than shame on you! You are an American citizen and if you feel disappointed because you are not able to find work in the USA than "sorry" for you.

Otherwise, Here are some examples of Xiangnan's failure to honor its contract with me. In its contract it states it pays medical expenses up to a certain dollar amount ( in rmb) the very first time I became ill because of the lack of heat in the flat they made me pay for my medicine and care. Another example, pay very close attention to your contract they make alterations when you arrive when the have you sign another contract in person in China.

I was never offered ANY reimbursement for my travel expenses and I did occur them from JFK in New York to Guanzhou, China. It states in the contract that they will pay my expenses to and from the university. Certainly, I did not expect them to pay my return but, I did expect my trip to be paid over there which by the way was about $800 US Dollars equivalent to approximately $6400 RMB.

So, Mr. Hogg's statement is quite riduculous that I owe them 2500 RMB. I don't need to respond to his foolish statements any further. I state the truth.

If you feel you would like to be short changed and mistreated than by all means go to Xiangnan. But, in my opinion there are many universities in China that would offer you quite a good and valuable experience I just happen to think Xiangnan is not one of them. I wish you the best.
