Travel, Teach, Live in China
This is In Response to a recent response by Timothy Hogg. First, I need to make this "cyrstal clear" I did pay in rmb(chinese currency) FOR ALL treatment I received at their infirmary(medical office) at XIangnan University. Timm Hogg has no first hand knowledge of my payment he certainly was not in the infirmary when they asked me to pay for the services provided. Anyhing they gave me they made me pay.
I would like to tell prospective teachers simply that this was a benefit in my signed contract that they simply refused to honor. I do not give false or fabricated information about my experiences at Xiangnan. They are true and unfortunately for the school others read these postings and make their own determination.
Yes, there are schools who fail to honor their contracts like Xiangnan. But, I believe they are in the minority, I believe there are schools that will be fair because they want to prevent deragotary information being published about the school.
Folks, there is definitely two sides to every story and I am telling you simply my experience Mr. Hogg has no first hand knowledge of my paying the infirmary(medical bills) or much less anything else. He simply was not present.
My airfare, If I was a prospective teacher again in China which I seriously doubt I would insist on my airfare being paid upfront at least one-way because,
this would discourage the schools/universities from simply not reimbursing the teacher for his or her expenses.
I am aware that some schools and universities do this for their teachers look around and if they refuse go elsewhere. You are in the drivers seat they need your services.
Most of all do your homework and read all postings and information about the school . This will give you some insight into other teachers experiences at the school.
