Sights You Must See When Traveling to Poland

Poland is a beautiful European nation that is alive with rich history and culture. In Poland, one will find sprawling mountain ranges, visually stunning rivers and lakes, major urban cities that have something for every person, and much, much more. Let’s look at some of the top reasons that people love to visit Poland:

• Stately palaces and beautiful castles. The Polish countryside is dotted with stately palaces and beautiful castles. The Lancut Palace, which is found in Eastern Poland, is a fabulous palace that was designed in neo-Baroque style. The palace sets inside a seventy-six acre park and is one of the most fabulous palaces in all of Eastern Europe. Inside the palace grounds, you can see a collection of antique carriages and the last owner’s collection of art objects and furnishings, or you can tour a sculpture garden.

Once finished there, tourists can mosey on over to the tallest building in Poland, which is the Palace of Culture and Science, located in Warsaw. Climb up to the thirtieth floor and you will get enjoy a panoramic view of Warsaw.

Warsaw is also home to Wilanow Palace, which was once home to King Jan III Sobieski, and that later become Poland’s first museum at the beginning of the nineteenth century. Wilanow is home to many of the original interiors that would have been seen in the castle in the 1600s, and guests to this palace love its verdant formal garden, lake, and lush forest surroundings.

• Majestic mountains and never-ending rivers. For water enthusiasts, Eastern Poland and the Mazury Lake district is the place to be. A popular destination among the Polish, those who like to sail or kayak make this a popular getaway destination. The region is home to around 2700 lakes and thousands of what are known as lakelets, all of them interconnected by a series of rivers, canals, and streams.

On the Baltic Coast, you will find a forty-two square mile national park that is beloved for its sweeping hills, steep cliffs, and views of the Baltic Sea – known as the Wolinski National Park. The park proudly offers refuge to a diverse number of rare plants, animals and birds, including bison and sea eagles.

• Unbelievable history. Poland has the unfortunate distinction of being home to one of the most notorious death camps from World War II, Auschwitz. Auschwitz remains one of the most popular tourist destinations in Poland, and visitors to this camp can view exhibits there like two tons of human hair that was taken from death camp detainees with the intent of using it for German textiles. Gas chambers, the execution wall, crematorium, and other exhibits provide a somber look at life for millions of prisoners who were held here while the Nazis rained terror on a large part of the world.

Another popular historical site among tourists is the Wieliczka Salt Mine in Greater Krakow. This salt mine is seven centuries old and has more than two-thousand chambers. An underground tour allows guests to visit chapels that have been carved from salt, as well as the mine’s subterranean lakes that are invariably fascinating to behold.
These are just a few of the enchanting places that you will find when traveling to Poland. There are countless others waiting for you in this beautiful and diverse country.
