TEACHERS DISCUSSION FORUM
oh really - 2004-10-28
In response to the gripe board (ESL_IN_ASIA)

Third world countries usually have little respect for human beings.

Think of the name "Baghdad", and then the names of many other Iraqi cities, the names which will occasionally appear in the newspapers you read, being as they will be the subject of stories of tragic circumstance but grim resolve on the part of keyboard heroes like yourself.

I'm sure you didn't intend it, but the tenor of your statement makes you seem like an insufferable racist, and an ignorant and hypocritical fool.

Would you care to retract it or at least provide a little balance as to the extent of the "first world"'s respect for human beings?
