I am a non-native speaker of English and though I do not wish to claim that I am better than a native speaker, I feel a bit hurt by Rebecca's comments. It is true quite a number of us have heavy accent and other inappropriate language traits. But, I also wish to point out that some native speakers try to capitalize on this situation and consider it as an opportunity for their exclusive rights to teach English. No wonder, by sheer audacity of hope a few non-native speakers try to push their way around in the job market sometimes even by wrong methods. But, a good number of us are as proficient as native speakers.
