What Mum Didn't Tell You About Daydreaming And Goals!
By:Andre Palmer

What are you thinking about right now? Something you just read, or what to cook for dinner tonight? Did you know that most people spend nearly half their time daydreaming?

Unlike animals, we can think about the past, speculate around our future and lose ourselves in unrealistic dream castles. Unfortunately this ability to let your thoughts wander free, makes most of us unhappy. Our happiness and mental well-being is based on what we think about and what is going in our mind. You can learn to become more aware in your daily life by once in a while ask yourself some questions like, what am I doing right now? What am I thinking about? And, how happy do I feel?

By learning to be more present in the moment and spending less time thinking about other things, the better it is. So for example, the more attention a task requires, the more focused you are the better.

Some research shows that we are most present when we have sex. Second is when we exercise. Similar research showed that, when we are resting, working or just sitting in front of our computer at home, is when we are most likely to feel unhappy.

Even if it can feel good, or like a temporary relief, try to stay away from vague daydreaming. Unless, of course your dreams are related to your goals and you are actually thinking of your goals and how to reach them. Then it can be positive.

When it comes to goals, start by setting simple goals - and achieve them - you feel better and your self-esteem will increase.

Here are a couple of other things you kan do to help yourself with your goals.

Write them down.

Try to articulate what you really want. Be as clear as you can with what you need to do to get there, and when you are gone do it. Increase your motivation by imagining the result when you reach your goal.

List barriers

Think about what that could stand between you and your goals. Your own fatigue? Lack of time? Other peoples opinions? Think about how can you deal with these obstacles?

Some times you can work with others to reach your goals. For example, if you are trying to quit smoking and your friend also wants to quit, you can work together and try to encourage each other.

Get inspiration from others

Talk to, or read about others that have already succeeded. What did they do, how did they do it? What kind of obstacles did they have to overcome? Do he, or she have any tips for you?
