I think this would point to a problem of development, or lack of it, in these poorer asian societies. What might be taken for granted in the West (clean drinking water, ample water for flushing a toilet, running hot water for a shower/bath), may well be a luxury in this society. It may well be better to teach somewhere like a more developed asian country where this would not prove a problem, I did hear flats in Thailand have on demand hot water in the showers.
