I just came across this post and I have to say:
You're very irresponsible to say the least. Way to let the Lamar poster dwell on this after New Year's. Then he can go back to the bank and find out how everyone merrily "forgot" what happened that day, even if he just might be one of only a few handful of foreigners who live around the area to begin with. Chinese banks will waste your time doing something they shouldn't be doing for hours on end due to incompetence and then shrug their shoulders at you after they find out the transaction can't be done due to your expat status or their faulty equipment.

Your "don't worry, be happy" fits perfectly with the mei ban fa mindset of the general populous over there.

Hallo Dragonized
There's a slight flaw in your post, that's to say that you are answering a post that does not exist; either that, or you have inadvertently confused the sequence of events; you see, at the time of the submission of the post you took umbrage to, the unfortunate gentleman had not revealed on this forum that his passport had been damaged in the bank, only that it had been damage; and then what to do, what to do?

Now,the gentleman didn't have an appointment to get anything done about his status until after Christmas, as I saw it; all i was advising really is, don't waste your life worrying about stuff, since it's the worry that makes life difficult, rather thaan what will happen. He couldn't do anything about his situation, short of renewing his passport, but I didn't advise him to do that, but another poster did. I didn't want to get ahead of things by advising too much, because there's other people on the forum who can have their say.

You won't see a submission from me in this thread that mentions anything to do with banks, because I didn't know anything about a bank, and neither did any other poster. Maybe I should have made such a submission, after we all learned that a bank was involved.
