Also agree with you that not all ex-pats with suits are wankers, it's mainly the teachers who look stupid.

Some guys are sent to Shanghai or Guangzhou by their USA, Australian, or UK companies and probably don't really want to be there, they make the most of a bad situation.

Having to wear suits and ties in stifling heat is just crazy unless you want to constantly be in air-conditioning.

I know in Brisbane, Australia, my home city, it gets hot as hell in summer and dress codes for corporates ( more in favor of women ) have been relaxed to a certain extent. So some smart dress trousers, black leather shoes and an expensive short-sleeved shirt will often suffice.
